April 23rd Race Results

The rain, wind, and cold temps kept most racers away this morning.  In the A field, the attacks came on every lap until the 4th lap when a group pulled away from what was left of the field, Colin Prensky of L.Raphael-Leopard Cycles sprinted for the win out of the break.  In the B Field, two riders broke away with  Alex Brinkley taking 1st and Brian Sullivan taking 2nd.    Fabienne Gerard, Fuoriclasse/Discover Chiropractic won the women's race, and Michael Nelson finished 1st in the C field. Race Roster Published

In order to help members identify any license or other issues that would preclude them from participating in a club race, going forward we will publish the draft race rosters on Thursday prior to each race here.  The roster also highlights members who are currently suspended as a result of missed marshaling dates. Members who have recently upgraded or have not previously raced this season should check the race roster to ensure they appear on the race roster as expected.

Rosters are finalized at noon on Friday so any outstanding issues with your USAC license information must be corrected before that time and reflected in our system.  We obtain an updated feed from USAC on Friday mornings and the race roster is based upon that information.

Please do not show up to a club race expecting to race unless you appear on the race roster - its is your responsibility to ensure your details are correctly reflected.

As a reminder to all members, your USAC license must state your licensed Club is CRCA.  If this is not the case, this can be corrected online by visiting www.usacycling.org, accessing 'My USA Cycling", selecting the 'License Info' and requesting a reissue of your license.

For help resolving any issues, please email both secretary@crca.net and membership@crca.net before Thursday 10pm to allow sufficient time to resolve.

Sad News

The Board is saddened to report the sudden death of one of our life members, Jay Rosen.  Jay joined the club in 1985 and was an active member in the club's activities throughout. Jay was a Category 3 racer, a great supporter of CRCA and a true cyclist. He will be sadly missed.  We understand he rode in Central Park as recently as yesterday evening.

The family asks that flowers not be sent to the chapel or his home. We will let you know information on donations as soon as it is available.

The service will be at 12:00pm tomorrow, Thursday, April 14th, at Gramercy Park Memorial Chapel, 353 Second Avenue (between 20th and 21st Streets), New York, NY. (Tel: 212-477-6334).

Jay’s family will be sitting Shiva starting tomorrow evening through sundown on Friday at their apartment, (249 West 29th Street, Apartment 6S, New York, NY).  You are welcome to come by and pay your respects.

If you have fond memories of Jay that you would like to share, feel free to leave comments below.

Thank You!

In light of the last race, the Board would like to thank the Membership for adjusting to the new age of Central Park and the new demands imposed on racing cyclists. The Membership’s behavior before, during, and after the race, adhering to all rules, whether CPC, CRCA, or USAC was excellent. The Club Membership even received outside compliments on their race event.

We hope this will continue and, the 2011 racing season will be a positive experience for both the Board and the Membership, regardless of what lies ahead.

Thank you.

The 2011 Board of Directors, CRCA
