IMPORTANT REMINDER: Our ability to race in Central park is dependent on all racers, marshals and volunteers following Park regulations.
Always comply with these rules before, during, and after all Central Park races:
- Ride on Central Park roads only - no riding on walking paths, dirt paths, pedestrian paths
- Ride in the direction of traffic only (counter-clockwise)
- Stay out of the recreation lane at all times
- Engage in positive, productive behavior with other park users at all times
We are disappointed to have received reports from the Central Park Conservancy that three CRCA members violated these rules on Saturday. These members have been disqualified from Saturday's Club Race Results. The CRCA Board will be taking immediate action, up to and including suspension or expulsion from CRCA, depending on the severity of a violation and repeat offenses.
It is IMPERATIVE that members abide by these rules no matter how inconvenient or seemingly inconsequential the violation - the CPC and the NYC Parks Department are monitoring us at all times. Please help us to educate your teammates, friends and fellow racers as appropriate, and help us ensure we keep our ability to race in our Park.
Familiarize yourself with the Central Park Racing Technical Guide for more information related to racing in Central Park.
Also, we remind everyone that all CRCA members agreed to the CRCA Code of Conduct:
CRCA CODE OF CONDUCT
As a member of CRCA, I acknowledge that:
- My participation in CRCA races is a privilege
- This privilege is dependent upon the ability of CRCA to hold races
- This privilege could be lost as a result of the actions of participants and marshals, including myself
- Any failure to comply with this code or any policies of the club will subject me and/or my sub-team to disciplinary action, as determined by the Board, subject to the requirements of the Club’s By-laws
Furthermore, I will:
- Abide by the rules and rulings of CRCA, USAC, and USADA, including rules regarding fair competition
- Do my utmost to ensure the safety of racers and other Park users while marshaling
- Follow the NYC Parks Department rules of conduct
- Not ride in the runners lane while racing or training in City Parks
- Not participate in dangerous group rides in City Parks
- Treat club members, racers, officials, park users, and the public with respect

CHECK-IN
In-person check-in is no longer necessary with the advent of chip timing (except for the Women’s Development participants who are not CRCA members, which is described below). As long as you properly start the race and ride over the start line on lap 1, you will automatically be included in the race results. Men’s Cat 3 racers must self select Men’s A or Men’s B field 48 hours before the start of the race.
NUMBERS/CHIPS & NUMBER PICKUP
There will be day of number and chip pick up for riders who were unable to pick up numbers at the pre-season event. Number and chip pick up will close at 5:45 am.
Numbers are pinned on your right side and rear pockets. You must have both numbers pinned in order to race. You must have your chip affixed on the fork of your bike in order to be scored! Please refer to the chip placement instructions for guidance on how to install your chip on your bike. Where you place your chip and its orientation matters! Do not mount on your stem.
If you do not have your chip, please notify a CRCA board member who will notify the scoring table. Otherwise, you will not be scored! The replacement fee for lost numbers and chips will be $20 per set of new numbers and $75 for a lost chip.
MARSHALS
NYC Parks strictly enforces our marshal requirements. As recent as last year, we were seeing an alarming uptick in no-shows for marshal assignments.
Races cannot start until 15 minutes AFTER all marshals are at their assigned posts. If marshals arrive late, do not show or are not at their precise assigned post we may lose our race permits. Teams with assigned marshals that do not show will have to forfeit another team member to serve as a marshal if there’s a marshal deficit.
Check our updated Marshal Assignment List to see if you’re scheduled for the upcoming race, and remind your friends and teammates. Please refer to the Marshaling Instructions and Marshaling Policy for addition information.
PODIUMS & LEADERS JERSEYS
After this race, the current Series Leaders should wear their Leader’s Jersey in the race. Podium ceremonies will be held at the Boathouse 15 minutes after the conclusion of the race. Please report to the Boathouse after your race if you placed within the top 3 of your field. If you’re in contention for the leader’s jersey, be sure to report to the Boathouse to receive your jersey before the next race.
CLOTHING POLICY
Please make sure you are wearing the proper club or sub-team kit if you are on a sub-team, patches and or arm bands compliant with our club policy if you choose to do so, on an unaffiliated jersey (i.e., not a professional, national/world champion, or another sub-team jersey). CRCA heat transfer logo patches and arm bands will be available for purchase at morning of registration. If you do not comply with the kit policy your team will be suspended and you will be DQ’ed. *Early Season Kit Rules are in effect, an exception will be made for Winter or Rain Jackets requiring the CRCA logo.
RIDER CONDUCT
In the past, after Club Series races, riders have been reported by NYC Parks for riding backward on the Central Park loop, riding in the rec lane and/or riding on walking paths. This conduct threatens the existence of our races and will be subject to an immediate DQ and possible suspension. We ask riders to please be aware of the traffic laws in Central Park, especially for cyclists, some of which are highlighted here, under Central Park Protocol for Cycling and Training.
Please note, when returning to the Boathouse after completion of your race, for those riders entering the Park, we ask you to enter the Park’s East and West Drives with caution and yield to races going on as they have the right of way.
ROSTERS
To confirm your eligibility to race please check the CRCA Roster. Don’t forget to upload your signed USAC event waiver before your first race. You can email membership@crca.net in advance if there are any issues. We may not be able to fix membership issues on race morning.
RESULTS
The CRCA Club Series now features professional results with chip timing and live results tracking! Prior to every race, we will update this link to allow your friends and family to watch the results update in real time. You’ll also be able to use that link to check your results after the race.
Official results will be posted on CRCA.net and uploaded to USAC following a protest period three business days after the race. Do not approach the results table for any reason on race day. The CRCA Club Series may be utilized for USAC upgrade points.
If you have any questions about your placement in a Club Race, please use the form linked here. After results are posted, there will be a 72 hour window to request revisions to the USAC results.
Any riders that are dropped from the main peloton and finish their race alone are encouraged to check in with the finish line staff.
